What is it?
Agera Rx skin peels are used to treat acne, ageing skin, sun damaged skin and skin with increased pigmentation. The skin peels are revolutionary in their effectiveness without the normal discomfort or downtime associated with such peels. There are 6 suggested regimes for various skin problems ranging from potential to blemish to active acne and increased pigmentation to sun damaged skin.
How does it work?
The Agera peels are designed to be gentle to start with and then are gradually increased in strength as the skin becomes acceptant of the procedure. The chemicals and peeling materials penetrate deeply into the skin without causing any significant irritation. They can then be activated by adding cold water to the treatment, which immediately switches on the peel. This is distinct from peels such as those that just contain glycolic acid which simply burn their way down through the upper layers of the skin.
Salicylic acid is used for its anti-bacterial properties and reduces the build up of cells that cause the pores to block, lactic acid stimulates collagen production and citric acid is an antioxidant that also stimulates the production of collagen and elastin.
Following a skin peel you may experience some mild redness and slight discomfort of the treated area for 12-24 hours.. You may also experience gentle shedding and or flaking of the outer layers of the skin for several days after the treatment. Some sun sensitivity may be experienced after a peel and a SPF 25 is recommended. Direct sun exposure, sun beds, sauna, hot baths are discouraged for 48 hours after treatment.
How long does the treatment take and how long will it last?
The chemical skin peel takes approximately 45 minutes. A course of 6 treatments are recommended as the peels are designed to be gentle to start with and then gradually increase in strength. Several peels usually on a weekly or fortnightly basis are required to see the desired effect. A top up peel is recommended 6 monthly.
